TPU Processing Technology & Applications

 I.Typical process method of TPU is extrusion and injection.     Pay attention to the items below:

1Absolutely dry before processing as TPU has strong hygroscopicity;

2Improve precision of temperature control as temperature dependency of     adhesiveness is slow;

3Consider structure and draw ratio of screw rod from material     properties (e.g. compression ratio, channel depth , L/D, etc.);

4Consider structure of mould from flowability of material (won't cause     stranded nozzle, flow channel and pouring gate);

5Power of moulding machine shall be set larger (1.5-2 times more than     general purpose resin);

6Annealing treatment to recover initial properties (especially non-     fully plastified material);

7Bad Hydrolysis resistance, easy hydrolysis under high-temperature or     moisture conditions, especially low-hardness TPU.

 

    II.Drying temperature & time

 

Hardness is 90A and less, 80903-4h

Hardness is 95A and over, 901003-4h

Low-hardness product at high drying temperature may become binder, excessive long drying time may cause product turn yellow.

    Processing method of TPEE   

    Before processing, TPEE shall be continuously dried for 3-5 hours in blower at 90C110oC; after drying and processing, it can't be placed in damp air which may affect its performance; return material can be mixed for reuse but quantity added can't exceed 25%.Injection moulding: material temperature shall be 5~15oC higher than melting point of the product, mould temperature is 20~50oC, injection pressure is 60~100MPa and injection speed is medium-to-low speed. Extrusion & blowing moulding: draw ratio of screw rod shall be 251, temperature of feed cylinder shall be 5~10oC higher than melting point of the product and rotating speed of the screw rod is medium-to-low speed

Processing method of TPU film:
   Rolling/pasting (rolling can be achieved via all industrial treatment processes), e.g. hot sticking, thermoforming, hot rolling, plate rolling, adhesive rolling, hot-melting bonding, ultrasonic wave and high frequency.

Welding/the best welding methods include:    

 high-frequency dielectric welding, hot-gas welding, heating medium import welding and ultrasonic welding.
